Where Little Minds Come To Grow!
Where Little Minds Come To Grow!
My name is Britny and I have been running my daycare for the past 12 years. I started it when my 3 children were just infants and fell in love with this age group. I am state licensed, CPR, first aid, health & safety certified, finger printed and background checked all approved by the state of California. I currently have my Bachelors degree in early childhood education (birth through age 8) and can be a teacher in the state of California. However I chose to work with children under the age of 5 because of their remarkable learning mentality. Did you know that 80% of a child's brain capacity develops by age 3? If you ask me, that’s pretty incredible! For this reason my daycare has an experienced preschool program that allows children to work in small group settings and get personal one on one attention, which ultimately helps cater to each child's individual needs.
I love every single aspect of teaching and have realized in my years that they can teach us just as much as we teach them. This is one of my favorite things about teaching.........you never stop learning.
Precious Treasures is apart of the state funded Food Program which lets me provide organic, fresh, delicious home cooked foods including breakfast, lunch and snacks at no cost to you.
My job is to guide, encourage, interact and prompt my students while also providing opportunities for them to engage in their own learning experience. By using a hands-on approach, as well as learn- through- play, I will allow the child to gain his or her own understanding of the topic. Based on my circle time curriculum, I’ve noticed that students who are actively involved in their learning process will not only keep information longer but more importantly have a desire to learn. Students who are motivated to learn will listen and be attentive to what the teacher is instructing and actually use the newly understood information in and out of the classroom. My philosophy of literacy instruction is to include a balance of reading, letter tracing, speaking and listening activities. These activities would include phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension and vocabulary development. I want my students to receive as much guided help as they need to turn them into great independent learners. I believe students need to be taught each letter sound thoroughly and by using one letter a week, it will give them a strong foundation of phonemic awareness. I will also do a ton of reading aloud to develop auditory perception that will let children think about how words sound. I want to cater to each child's learning style and will discover their learning styles through observations and assessments.
As an educator I see my main job as creating a passion for lifelong learning along with preparing students for the real world. Daycare is often the first group environment most children encounter outside of their homes, for this reason I want to provide my students with a multicultural learning environment, free from discrimination, cultural differences and bullying. It is my job as an educator to promote, inform, and teach about social acceptance of other students. I have created a positive classroom environment that celebrates diversity! In that environment, I have also built a secure atmosphere, where students feel safe to be themselves.
Teaching is a lifelong journey. It requires teachers to be constantly up-to-date with the newest methods and materials. I feel as an instructor it is my responsibility to give children the tools they need to gain knowledge in all subject areas. I want to be a role model and a facilitator of knowledge for my students and share my love and acceptance of others with them. By creating a multicultural, student-centered environment, I believe I will be able to give my students a passion for embracing others and a love of learning that they can use outside of school. At Precious Treasures Daycare I strive to get your children prepared for kindergarten. Children will learn appropriate social behavior and develop social skills in many areas. Learning socialization skills is one of the strongest benefits for children in daycare and lets them experience the socialization they need and crave. I am also fully dedicated to the emotional development of each child and make it my goal to make sure that each child receives the best care and love that they all deserve. After all these children are our FUTURE!
